Sony might have revealed the PlayStation 6 release date in its official files
Just announced is a revised and updated release date for PlayStation 6. This is due to the publication of a document from the UK Competition Market Authority.
According to the document, Sony expects that the PlayStation 6 console will be released around 2027. The PS5 has a seven-year life expectancy.
The PlayStation 6 will not be released before 2027.
These documents are part of the ongoing Microsoft Activision acquisition. Sony expects to lose access to Activision before 2027 and unveil their new console.
Sony claimed that Activision titles like Call of Duty would not be accessible to them if the acquisition went ahead.
This is yet another chapter in the continuing saga of the Microsoft Activision acquisition. It comes after news broke in February about Microsoft’s defense against disgruntled bodies like Sony and EU regulators.
Given the PS5 and PS4 consoles’ release dates, which are accurate estimates, they would have a similar life cycle. From November 2013 to November 2020, the PS4 generation lasted from the release of PS5 in November 2020.
Sony continues to block Microsoft’s $68 Billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. While the potential acquiree may have many titles to offer but the primary concern seems to be with the Call of Duty franchise.
